Yes, I LOVE your multi-sensory approach to this. Am currently reading the (somewhat older) book "A Natural History of the Senses" by Diane Ackerman and she writes evocatively and poetically--she's a published poet as well--about the powers of our various senses, even if, compared to other creatures, they aren't particularly keen (sight being a notable exception).

But, @surftohealth88, yes! I think appreciating nature is absolutely paramount, a balm to the soul. I, likewise, enjoy birds, but also trees and the sky, whether looking at clouds or the nighttime sky (Jupiter is particularly brilliant towards the east just now).
I've been attracting lovely goldfinches to my patio with a Nyjer seed feeder, photo attached.

@sandguy

Aaaawe, that photo is so lovely : ))) !

Yes, Nyjer seeds are complete magnet for them - I have a sock feeder since red finches (who are stronger) were harassing poor yellow finches. This way only yellow ones can feed on those feeders. Red finch and the rest of the pushy gang got a separate feeder with sunflower seeds XP.

Every spring I have multiple nests of different species in my garden - I feel so blessed :)))) to have such close-up relationship with wild birds. They get used to us so sometimes they follow me when I water my garden. I also once had a female hummingbird coming to me and bathe under hose shower while I was holding it : ))) , I felt like a Snowhite in some fairy-tale *tehe

Thanks also for mentioning a great book : ))) !

@sandguy What a beautiful photo! Thanks for sharing.
