Hypothyroid plus tingling in hands and feet, muscle cramps
About 3 weeks ago, I began getting lightheaded and fatigue. Eventually, pins and needles developed in my hands and feet that come and go, but have worsened. Muscle cramps making it hard to walk have just begun. 3 weeks ago, my TSH was 31.2 and Vit D was 18; all other blood values were normal. Endo increased my synthroid, but symptoms have worsened. MRI has ruled out MS. I don't know where else to seek help, but I am quickly deteriorating. Any advice?

Yes. I drink one liquid IV a day, with a lot of water. I’m not deficient in any vitamins and electrolytes look good on paper.
After focusing on the actual spasms… I think they are veins twitching, not muscles. The cramps are usually up the front of the calf and the back of the calf… at the same time.
CT scan on heart issue next. I’ve also been referred to pulmonologist.

1 Reaction@humormepleez I highly recommend that you have a coronary CT calcium score test done if you haven’t already. It was the only test that showed that I had an 85 percent blocked coronary artery. Also ask your doctor about the injectable cholesterol lowering drug called Repatha. It brought my LDL down from 150 to 50 in just a couple months

I started using the brand--BodyArmor--about a month ago. It reduced my leg and foot cramps to zero. Unless I forget to drink a bottle. Then I get a painful reminder. I have found that I need the drink even if I don't exercise. Each bottle is 700 ml. BA has very little taste to me. I drink it at room temperature.
This discussion originated nearly 9 years ago and was mainly about hypothyroidism (plus a bit about tingling in hands & feet, muscle cramps). It renewed a couple days ago and now mainly focuses on muscle cramps? For whatever it’s worth I have 2 granddaughters who do cross country and have gotten plagued from time to time with muscle cramps. They have found relief from making sure they warm up before running (gentle stretching etc), staying well hydrated (electrolytes?) and consuming pickles (of all things, especially pickle juice!). The first two things just seem like common sense to me, but the pickle juice was new to me! But, guess what? I tried it and it works, quickly! I keep a big jar of dill babies or petite dills in the fridge. Good thing I love pickles. I’ve found that a few swigs of the juice can even stop muscle cramps on the spot. I classify this as something that can’t hurt, might help and thought I’d pass it on.

1 Reaction@cehunt57 Thank you for your response! 🤓 I have tried pickles and pickle juice and unfortunately, it doesn’t help. My Dr. said not to do the sugar free sports drinks. He explained the salt and sugar work together to help the body absorb the electrolytes. On a different note, my chest still aches from time to time. They are sending me in for a CT scan of the heart next.

@humormepleez what your Dr. said about the salt and sugar makes sense. In fact I thought the salt was a type of electrolyte itself and maybe the sugar too. Here’s hoping your heart CT scan turns out well.
