Don't feel bad about Abbott. I believe it was all of our complaints that forced them (Abbot) to look at their production lines and found one producing bad sensors. When I first got my FreeStylee monitor and sensors, the literature that came with it had a video CD that contained a file/interview that compared different sensor brands and Abbott was not on top,

I agree, I called on one of my bad sensors and they wanted to know all the information about the sensor so they could trace it to the production line and dates. Very responsive, and sent a new sensor.

This is an example of why you should contact a company if something does not work.

I think that there was more than just complaints. Some people really got hurt. Here is from Abbotts email.
Potential harm

If undetected, incorrect low glucose readings over an extended period may lead to incorrect treatment decisions for people living with diabetes, such as excessive carbohydrate intake or skipping or delaying insulin doses. These decisions may pose serious health risks, including potential injury or death, or other less serious complications. Globally as of 14-Nov-2025, Abbott has received reports of 736 severe adverse events and 7 deaths potentially associated with this issue.
