Itchy scalp caused by cervical osteoarthritis?

I also have an itchy scalp. I went to the dermatologist and she asked me if I had arthritis! I said yes I do! She said well that’s why and told me to try over the counter Scalpacin. That was no help whatsoever!

have just been reading these posts with intense interest as I have had a 7-8 year battle with itching, burning, inflammation, and also hair loss in the frontal area of my scalp. Of recent months I notice I have developed indentations on my forehead where I also experience some discomfort at times. Im so over my dermatologist not making any progress with my problem. Ive been to several dermatologists, all coming up with different diagnosis and even two punch biopsies resulting in two different diagnoses, so you have to ask yourself what to believe. At the moment I am struggling to get my Dermatologist to refer me for an MRI so as I can rule out a few suspicions I have, just to put my mind at rest but anyone would think Im trying extortion, he's so reluctant to do it, I have medical insurance, that's what I have it for, I shouldn't have to bend over backwards, not that I could to get a simple medical procedure which would clarify things. I also notice after the biopsies the pathology reports usually suggest certain follow up which I notice is completely ignored. Would love to hear your insight on this and also how you are progressing with your own battle.

@bcupp45 I think it’s one of two things.
I have Polyneuropathy. That makes my skin itch.
Or I also have Occipital Neuralgia. That involves the neck and nerves. It causes pain on my face, and my scalp is tender That is probably the reason. I tell people, my hair hurts!
