@cbosworth61 , I'm sorry to hear that your mother is experiencing progression. I'm also ALK+, and have been taking alectinib for the past 5+ years.
The hope would be that the doctors are able to get a tissue sample, to see if there is another targeted therapy that may be a better match for her specific cancer. There is so much hope in the ALK world right now. We are fortunate to have multiple treatments to choose from, and even a new one on the near horizon that should target more variations on the ALK mutation.
Is she doing ok with the news? Of course it's hard to potentially need to change treatments. How long was she on brigatinib?
As long as she is doing ok, she has some time to make a decision on her next steps. I heard someone say, 'choose peace not panic'. I figure that can apply to a lot of things, even cancer progression.
@cbosworth61, what did the further testing reveal? Will your mom have further treatment? How are YOU doing?
