Works for me too at times, but also a big bag of frozen peas or as coach used to say "walk it off".
Adductor cramps are the real tear jerkers for me.

Sometimes walking off is sooooo painful. Peas that's interesting. So the
"cold" helps you? I'll have to try that bit I have frozen corn. Haha. Life
is funny!
