Darolutamide and atorvastatin: Anyone taken a statin along with ADT?

Posted by mmacaulay @mmacaulay, Nov 13 10:44am

I’ve been hesitant to take a statin. I’ve been taking darolutamide for over three years, over eighteen months as monotherapy. Cholesterol has gone up. Am high risk for AFIB. Has anyone experienced issues with atorvastatin while doing ATP and/or ARI?

Yes I decided to start taking a statin. My visit with a cardiologist convinced me after he used AI to interpret my electrocardiogram, which indicated I am a high risk for AFIB. He checked with a pharmacologist about compatibility with the Nubeqa I’ve been taking and prescribed 10 mg Lipitor. I subsequently met with my oncologist, who had prescribed Nubeqa when I started chemo. He suggested I take 5 mg Crestor. I went with his recommendation.

Please note the interaction between the two. Make sure your cardiologist is aware. Some times they just miss it.
My Cardiologist changed my statin to Pravastatin

This is the most recent study I am aware of that has looked at statin use while on ADT. Not a double-blind clinical trial. At the bottom of the PubMed page, some similar (and older) studies are listed.

I am on Nubeqa and my cardiologist put me on Atorvastatin. Checking interactions I found the following
" " "SERIOUS
Potential for serious interaction; regular monitoring by your doctor required or alternate medication may be needed.
Darolutamide + Atorvastatin
Darolutamide will increase the level or effect of Atorvastatin by Other mechanism." " "

Then he put me on pravastatin.
hope this helps

@denkea I’d been on Pravastatin for several years before taking Nubeqa and continue to take it with Nubeqa. No issues.
