Positive results from Lanreotide injections

Posted by doonman @doonman, 3 days ago

Has anyone had positive results from Lanreotide injections? Tumors in remission or shrinking?

I’ve been taking monthly Octreotide injections post op for a year & my SI NETS with Mets is stable, per my July Pet scan. For me it seems to be working.

@fraaseo Thank you very much for your response. It seems and is understandable that most on this site have not found much relief and are still looking for some help. It's a relief to hear of someone who has had a positive reaction to these cancer drugs. I wish you continued success in your fight. I begin treatments in about 10 days and was just curious. Thanks again.

Lanreotide may help keep tumors stable which is why its often the first tool to reach for. Plus side effects are usually minimal (though you do need to watch your blood sugars) But I don't believe that it is expected to shrink tumors.

@doonman , Lanreotide does not shrink tumors, just stabilize the disease. It is the " tool for the first line of defense". For more agressive treatment there are other chemotherapies.
I have PNet with liver metastasies, Gr3, Stage 4, been on Lan since March '23, stable disease as of my 07/25 scans. Keep the faith; this cancer is a marathon!💜🦓

Hello. As mentioned by others, Lanreotide is expected to keep the tumors stable. My husband was diagnosed with Grade 1, Stage 4 NET a year and half ago and has been stable on Lanreotide with minimal side effects. Some are known to remain stable on Ocreotide or Lanreotide for many years without progression.

Thank you for the positive feedback. I was just diagnosed with low grade tumor in pancreas and shots to start shortly. I appreciate you all and good luck.

@doonman My husband will have been on Lanriotide for 3 year on January 3, 2026. His first tumor was removed in 1995. He was rediagnosed 12/30/22 Stage 4 with tumors throughout his skull and body. His tumors have been and continue to be stable. The tumors have not increased in number or size. He has been moved to 6 month scans. He has minimal side effects -- mainly feeling a little tired. He does experience a pain in his left side occasionally especially if he eats fried foods. He is able to relieve the pain with GasX and lying directly on the pain. He exercises daily and maintains a normal lifestyle. We are 82 years old and work hard at keeping a positive attitude. Good luck with your treatments. We hope the lanriotide works well for you.

I think I’m right but maybe not I am in Panama I also have NETS and I’m getting steroids (?) shots every month ( so far 4). It is not lanreotide, which is not yet available here but a cousin to it my oncologist says. I have had no side effects and my tumors seem to be unchanged so it’s working as a hormone blocker as expected. Remember though that this is a treatment and not an expected cure. It is neither chemo or radiation but it is keeping the tumors from growing, at least so far
