Anyone on ADT taking anti-depressants?

I was prescribed venlaxafine to help side effects of ADT, especially the severe hot flashes I get, but stopped after a few weeks because the side effects from venlaxafine were bad in my case. I think my moods were getting worse, I was actually sweating more, etc., etc.
If you look up side effects of venlaxafine it includes hot flashes! However, the dosage they give you for ADT symptoms is a fraction of the dosage given for depression. If you can deal without it, maybe let it sit in the medicine chest in case things get worse. If you do take it, you can always stop like I did, just be sure to ask the doc if you need to wean off of it slowly.
I tend to avoid medication if it is just targeting symptoms, but sometimes it can help. Venlaxafine must work for some people, just not me.
Best of luck on your journey.

@slowdo David, thank you for your response. I'm especially intrigued by your statement about "avoiding medication if it is just targeting symptoms." That's something to think about, surely. I'm generally leaning against adding another Rx to the regimen I'm already taking, but my oncologist, as well as some friends and relatives, have suggested it.
