The Kurus did not work out for me either. I agree about width and stiffness. I cannot stand socks either but unfortunately winter is here in New England.

I found heat holders non binding socks online, in three different weights. I’m trying the lightest weight ones. They are returnable if you don’t like them. Maybe they could help you.
