@meingan I am personally weaning off because it has caused me some physical problems…chest pain, shortness of breath and some dysrhymias.
@meingan I am far from cured but effexor has stopped working, doc keeps nagging at me to try other meds
@meingan I was placed on Effexor for hot flashes--which should not happen today, but gynecologists are still prescribing it. I was not told when to stop taking it, nor how difficult it would be to stop. There is no excuse for anyone to be put on this drug now without being warned how difficult it is to stop--known as "informed consent"--but many doctors have no idea how difficult it is to taper Effexor. It is not even readily available in tapering doses, which is unconscionable. I filed a complaint with the FDA for these reasons.
@meingan Though I have successfully lowered my dose from 150 mg to 37.5, I have done so because of it's sexual side effect. My sexual organs were numb, which is common with this medication. I have been slowly switching to Mirtazapine because it has a reputation of no sexual side effects and I am fortunately finding this to be true. I think the main reason people don't want to stay on Effexor is because they would like to enjoy sex again. Plus I have found taking CBD oil has made it quite easy for me to switch medications with very little discomfort.

@meingan Effexor has caused liver damage for me, so I don't have a choice.
