I had a physical in February 2021. The PSA was normal in the range of 2+ as it always has been my whole life, but I encountered with a loss of unexplained loss of 30 pounds over the next 60 days. I knew something wasn’t right it was a Clue from God that something wasn’t right and I thought I might have cancer now from February to October of that same year I went to my Urologist who did the normal urology check up and asked me if I would take a blood test. Of course I said yes that blood test came back in October at a 10 he said don’t worry. Let’s wait 30 days and we’ll check it again wait 30 days no way I couldn’t do that so in two weeks I had another blood test. It came back at 15 so now in two weeks it’s gone from 10 to 15. Wow I knew I had cancer he then did The biopsies and of 10 five had cancer. One was an eight on the Gleason scale very aggressive I could not get in to see my oncologist until January by that time the PSA is now a 38 that I knew I was dead, but they gave me the shot of blueprint and put me on ABIRATERONE ACETATE 1000 MG’s a day within a month of having that I went in for another blood test it went from 38 to 19 I got another blood test in two weeks and it had gone to a nine so I knew the hormone treatment was working if anybody out there is in the beginnings of prostrate cancer. You need to talk to your doctor about hormone treatment instead of an operation and all of that terrible stuff my brother-in-law had it taken out and he tells me he cannot leave the house without three men’s disposable diapers. He’s leaking urine and will the rest of his life unless they get a cure for this my cancer is back and I am back on the hormone treatment. I had radiation of two lymph nodes that showed cancer it went from the prostrate into the lymph system and now is not curable they tell me they’re not God but my doctors are terrific and I love them.

I recently took a trip to Houston because my sister was insisting on it. I checked them out and found out they’re the number one cancer hospital in the United States and they rank in the top three in the world. I hate to say that on this website because I know this is a terrific hospital too, but I went down there and had them look at all my records and they said I should be proud of the doctors I have in Portland as they have done a terrific job so that was their second opinion and it made me feel so good but he told me if anything changes let him know And they will dive in and see what they can come up with he said I am now his patient and a patient of MD Anderson along with my doctors in Portland at COMPASS oncology. They tell me now this is stage four cancer and not curable but they give me hope that they’ll be able to give me somewhere in the neighborhood of six years of life. I am 82 years old, but I don’t feel or act like it or look like it so age is just a number between your ears. I’m gonna fight this cancer with God‘s help in these great doctors who under God supervision are taking care of me. My reason for writing this story is that there are people out there just like me, maybe just getting into the what do I do stage after finding out they have prostrate cancer. This is my recommendation I would go for the hormone treatment because seriously I never even knew I had cancer. I had to go through 28 days of radiation and pills every morning and a shot every three months now tell me how tough that is it’s not and it allowed me to live my life normally while the drugs fought the cancer. I love the Mayo Clinic and all the hospitals like it for they are doing God‘s work I only bring up MD Anderson, as an option to consider you have to be accepted there as a patient so they have to look all over your records and determine whether or not you fall under their leadership scope God bless all of you who have this terrible disease I hope you got something out of my story.
