Have any of you heard of Calmare Scrambler Therapy?

Posted by felicelinda @felicelinda, Sep 21, 2024

Have any of you gone to doctors for Scrambler Therapy? It is a special therapy for neuropathy that was written about (positively) by Johns Hopkins and Mayo Clinic doctors. Many people have been helped by it….Unfortunately not covered by health insurance.

@duchess926 Tnank you for the helpful information. My husband and I live a little over an hour away from a highly recommended calmare scrambler provider. Would driving back and forth each day in the car have any negative results after doing the therapy (i.e. sitting in the car for that length of time?). How long did it take you to get to Clifton from N.Y.C. each day? Thanks so much!

@felicelinda From Manhattan to Clifton, NJ took about 40 minutes or so depending upon traffic… there is absolutely no side effects that I am aware of. Coming back in a car immediately afterwards caused no problems whatsoever. I usually returned to the city and ran around doing errands. I can’t think of anything negative to say about the procedure other than I really hope it works. After for treatments, everything was fine and then the night before my seventh procedure. I had some trigeminal pain, but was told that once you make it past seven, I should be good to go. While I was there, I met a family with a young gal from Ireland. She had some serious problems and had come all the way to come for the procedure. The clinic itself is very small and not fancy because all the doctor needs is two rooms. One for scrambler and the other one is for his clients for which he performs chiropractic maneuvers. Dr. Cooney treated me to one or two neck massages because he saw that I was having problems with my neck which also added into my pains and it did make a difference. I am very pleased that it did work for me and I don’t know how long this will last ….possibly six months before I need any kind of booster. In which case this would be a major miracle for me.

I tried it for 7 sessions I was supposed to do 10. Unfortunately, it made my pain worse. It was $250 per session. It does help others. Best of luck.

@deanthedeam - Hi....My trigmeinal pain was mainly on the left side of my face. Sometimes
it would gravitate to the right side. My problem was caused by a horrible dentist. I was in process of getting dental implants to the upper left side of my mouth. Unfortunately, unknown to my dentist who recommended the implant dentist, the implant dentist had a problem with drugs and money....about two weeks after he finished the final step of my implants, he committee suicide!! I was his legacy of permanent nerve pain and messed up sinuses....I spent about two years in acupuncture and another year with the pain clinic here in NYC at Mt. Sinai hospital. I have been dealing with pain meds until I almost ruined my body...
My trigeminal pain then led to a secondary problem (lucky me). I developed a rare headache called Hypnic Headaches.....they only occur when you're sleeping...they arrive approximately about two hours when you're into your REM sleep. For those headaches, I was taking Fiorcet.
I tried Gabapentin and a few other drugs....none helped mainly because they're for migraines...
and I don't have migraines.
So, now I've done two rounds of 31 Botox to my head for the headaches (every 3 months) and the Calmare Therapy for the nerve pain....I'm now into two months since I got the Calmer Therapy and hoping I can go as long as possible before I need a "booster." Whew!!!!

@deanthedeam - I live in NYC and was delighted to find a clinic in Clifton, N.J. that does the technique.....It's 10 sessions, each one lasting about 30 minutes. Absolutely no pain....Pads are attached to area of pain which leads to a small unit that sends a current to the brain to "Scrambler" the pain messages. No side effects whatsoever that I am aware of. Dr. Cooney suggested I might feel a bit tired and to just take it easy.....The results were immediate for me until the fifth session...That night I had some pain but then after continuing with session, I've been pretty good....I'm happy if I can get three months pain free...between the two therapies I've gone thru, I think my brain is pretty much fried at this point....and throw in two concussions as well!!!!! What are you doing for your situation?????
