Hi Doug, I have hiccups if I eat something to solid as well. Thanks for the heads up about hiccups from the steroids. I have a question for you and your treatment. Did you receive targeted chemo radiation? Did you have the surgery or no? Thanks Todd

My husband's very first symptom before his dx was unrelenting hiccups. They just started up and became constant. Then came the difficulty swallowing solids/liquids and substantial weight loss. He was diagnosed with squamous cell EC a few months later when he finally went to the doctor. It was found he had involvement of the diaphragm as well as other Mets, but it was the diaphragm spasms that caused the hiccups. Once he started chemo, he would have to take 2 dexamethasone pills, and then received the usual steroids with chemo. The hiccups came back full force and were present for days. Our dr figured out that it was the steroids causing them. They stopped the pills the night before chemo but he still received them during the chemo session. The hiccups became less and less and then finally resolved. Do you pre-treat the night before as well? That might be the culprit. Best of luck, it's exhausting to have them. Hopefully there's an easy fix by backing off the steroids. Please keep us posted!
