I had RARP at Mayo Rochester this fall. My discharge papers said “you may resume sexual activity once the catheter is removed”. (Of course, follow the directions of your Urologist - not my discharge papers).
I had a catheter for seven days. As soon as I pulled it out, (I was on the self-removal protocol), I tested the equipment and successfully masterbated to
completion. That was 7 days after surgury, without having yet started Cialis or Viagra.
I nearly cried with joy. I had been very worried about ED.
Everyone is different, and I perceive that I am an “outlier” in the timing. I am extremely grateful for that.
I have been masturbating 3-4 times a week since. I am not as hard as previously, but it is hard enough to accomplish what is needed!
Unfortunately, I have developed the pesky side-effect of climaturia. Instead of semen, I shoot urine when I orgasm! I’ve read that this is common after RP and usually resolves within 3 months. I hope to get that resolved with some disciplined Kegel workouts over the next few weeks.
Good luck!

Wow, that's a little surprising they said you could do that so soon, since that's typically less than two weeks after the surgery! My understanding was that you don't want to put stress on that newly attached /stretched ureter(?) before it has a chance to really heal up. But it sounds like you've done really well, so that's good.
I have noticed the"climaturia" too, and have been worried, so that's reassuring to hear about that from you.
And, yeah, Kegels, kegels, kegels...!
