@tmknight Same with me. Looking for alternatives, especially since I read a new study that clams taking calcium can be a problem. I know Algae Cal claims a different type of calcium, but apparently all form of calcium supplements were associated with higher risk of heart issues in older women who had been on supplements . I have been doing weight bearing exercises and have always been very active with hiking and gardening. Frankly I was surprised that my Dexa showed osteoporosis. I don't think my daily dose of Synthroid helps either.

@blueberre is it possible that your dosage of synthroid can be adjusted…my doc has kept mine quite low in recent years (even has me split a pill so I get 1/2 dose 2x a week) and thyroid levels are fine…sometimes the dose we start on is too high as we age…? all a big question as I am not a doctor ! There are different forms of calcium, another area to explore- some may be better absorbed, easier on the gut. It gets complicated if someone is taking a lot of meds…good luck to all !!
