I work with an integrative medicine doctor and he recommends many supplements and my neurologist said he was onboard with my taking them. I was told to get 300 mg capsules of ALA and start with 300 mgs and increase to 600 per day
500 mgs of L-Acetyl Carnitine and then 500 mgs of N-Acetyl Cystine I also take methylcobalamin 1000 mcgs and sublingual dissolving little pellets by Superior Source and Benfotiamine which is the most bioavailable form of B1

Just make sure none of these will counteract with any other medication you’re taking or interfere with any medical condition. But my neurologist was totally on board. Why don’t you take this list and discuss it with your doctor. If he’s not open minded then look online and you will see many people support taking these supplements. Start with one and see if it improves your symptoms and then build from there. For me the ALA was wonderful as are the methylcobalamin and the Benfotiamine and 500 mgs of L-Acetyl carnitine

@abbybarnes I have idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy and my current Neurologist, has done nothing aside from prescribing all of the "1st line treatments" antidepressants gabapenton, you get what I mean, none have touched it. It's gone from my feet to halfway up my buttocks in 2 years. Total agony, 24 hours a day. I'm taking this list to my GP, no help there either yet, aside from B12 injections, I thank you for this list of things to try. I've tried so, so many medications, potions, lotions, at my wits end...
