I developed a UTI on a recent trip to Sweden- symptoms already on the 2 nd day there.
Usually, I also drink a lot of water to flush it out but it was getting worse. I went to a clinic and was prescribed a form of penicillin aimed at treating UTIs. After the 5 days were finished the symptoms returned, worse. Back to the clinic. This time I took Cipro- I very rarely take it because of Achilles tendinitis in the past. Cipro can cause other problems too. Cipro worked.
It was interesting to learn that I got rx only because I was over 65. My daughter confirmed that- she has had UTIs in the past and was refused antibiotics. She had been suffering at home for a week once without treatment.
I assume they are trying to avoid antibiotic resistance, but I think that’s a bit extreme.
I developed pyelonephritis in my 29 s.

thank you for your comment, I ended up taking Nitrofurantoin 100 mg, 14 pills for 7 days- noticed no new side effects other then from the continuing immunotherapy treatment, This antibiotic appears to have worked, I feel better after 7 days.
