Right Groin & hip pain
Having intermittent pain in right groin, upper anterior thigh & right hip. Pain usually associated with bending at waist & straightening back up. X-ray & MRI report the joint is good. At times pain is severe & I cannot bear weight on right leg. Have Hx of some mild lumbar disease but have had injection which did not help pain in low back or hip. Also have had Physical Therapy without improvement. I am still working full time and this pain in interfering with my job.
No one has been able to tell what’s causing it or what I can do about it.

I had an MRI (in depth ability to view joints and soft tissues) AND a Myleogram that is able to provide a view like camera is inside the spinal column looking down into it, so Dr can see the space, if any around the spinal column core out to the sides of the column and related nerves. so it's more than a side view into the column... maybe this will show if nerves insidee the column a twisted, etc... GOOD luck... I KNOW muscle pains are a real Pain not only in the A$$ but for me also in the butt, hams/quads and groins!!! GOOD luck!

How long ago did you have your lumbar spine MRI? You may want an updated one if more than 6 months ago.
Have you seen a neurologist for EMG/nerve conduction studies of your lower body to check neuromuscular function/health?
I have cervical and lumbar stenosis, degenerative disc disease, myelopathy (spinal cord compression injury) and neurogenic claudication. I’ve had decompression and fusion surgeries on c5–c6, c6-c7, and l3-l5. I currently have an adjacent segment issue at l2-l3 which is classified as severe stenosis (have herniated disc and joint deterioration crowding my already congenitally narrow spinal canal). This is causing me significant nerve pain and weakness in buttocks, hips, hip flexors and legs. I also am dealing with bilateral gluteal tendinopathy and bilateral high grade partial hamstring tears which makes walking, going up and down stairs, standing up from seated positions and standing for extended periods very painful/uncomfortable. I feel I am at significant risk of falling so I can empathize with your situation.

3 ReactionsHi ark,
Sounds like you may have a problem with your hip, and probably arthritis in the joint.
I had groin pain for almost a year, thinking it was a muscle strain. It was actually an arthritic hip - the actual hip joint lies directly beneath the groin. I couldn't raise my foot in the shower to wash my feet. Finally had it diagnosed, got a cortisone shot that didn't work, and had it replaced in March of this year.
I know the MRI and X-ray didn't indicate a problem. I'd get a second opinion.
All the best,
Joe

2 ReactionsGeez Hope you are going through a LOT, and that's a massive understatement. I admire you for fighting your way through this, and sharing your story here.
My lumbar spine is help together by a strong set of core muscles. Even so, my back is very stiff when I wake up and start moving. I have tried acupuncture recently, on a cruise, with some success and plan to continue. (Medicare Part B covers acupuncture treatment of the lower back.)
Stay strong Hope, and all the best to you. You are a fighter!

Thank you so much, Joe. It has been very hard for me but I hold onto my faith and take one day and one painful step at a time.
I had a full body massage on Friday which was my first in over 5 years! It was great to help relax very tight and painful muscles. I definitely need to focus on better self care. I’ve neglected myself too long.
It is good to know you have had success with acupuncture. I have never tried it but willing to try it. How do you recommend finding a good acupuncturist?
I wish I had your strong core muscle! I used to have a strong core and strength and flexibility in my limbs but that feels so long ago. I miss my flexible self that used to love to dance and get on the floor to stretch and do splits! 🙂
Have you tried aquatic therapy? It has very much helped my myofascial pain syndrome and arthritis since the water takes the weight off your muscles a bit. I am much more easily able to exercise in the warm therapy pool. You could ask your doc for a referral.

1 ReactionI had a similar occult pain in my Igroin for a year. Ortho consult and X-ray
did not find anything. Consulted general surgeon and of course they
found a hernia to repair. Pain went away postop for two weeks then was back again with my normal activity.
Started to golf a lot on vacation and was plenty sore until
I tore my hip adductor on the tee. Hurt for a week and then the pain never
recurred. It was caused by the hip adductor and the tear was a natural
non surgical tendon release. Have your PT or ortho check your adductor
tendon maneuvers and possibly have an ultrasound.

I am having same pain and all symptoms as you describe . Same xrays and tests performed for 3 years. Today my surgeon says I need an anterior robotic hip replacement yes or yes . 🤷🏼♀️
Yes and yes. Had one in mid-September. Groin pain is gone. I can bend at the waist and walk upright without a limp. Out the same day as the procedure, although the first week was no fun. Just do it. Life will be renewed. Bette
@bettes
I Am looking for the best surgeon . I Am terrified
Someone knows a real honest and great one in here?
