Middle finger joint replacement for this lifelong gardenet

Posted by pr54 @pr54, Nov 15 3:23pm

Hi. Brand new to this group. Losing sleep over my decision to have joint replacement surgery for my middle finger on my dominant hand. I have severe erosive arthritis and pain has become much worse last two years.'
I work around my middle finger dysfunction while gardening and cooking, but pay for it with increased pain. I would love to have less pain, but still want to do what I love.
I have scheduled my surgery, but need to hear of others experience, especially gardeners.
Thank you

That should say gardener in title! Fat arthritic fingers don't type well!

I am going to be following this post, since I too have increasing pain in my middle finger joint. I never even thought of joint replacement for this, which is puzzling to me now. In two weeks time I am having a total hip replacement.
And I too am a gardener, and have been unable to get down and dirty for a few years.
Good luck!

I have a finger on each hand which is enlarged. 4th and middle fingers. No
pain - yet. Will consider surgery if they become painful. Same with two toes.
