Neuropathy Pain after platinum-based chemo: Running out of options
Lung cancer 2016 treated with surgery, radiation, platinum based chemo, then Keytruda which finally successful. Worsening periphal neuropathy pain in feet. Morphine and other meds trying to hold pain to 3. Morphine recently doubled to 30 mg TWICE daily. Avoiding driving. DMV and my doctors annually review license to drive. Have all various results like pins and needles, numbness, shooter lightening bolts in left foot etc. All assorted OTC peddlers have sold me gummies, creams, etc. Bottom line, running out of options.

Have you looked into any complementary or alternative therapies to see if they may help relieve the pain?

Have you tried taking alpha Lipoic acid, Acetyl l carnitine, and magnesium supplements plus tried lidocaine/magnesium creams? Have you talked to a dietitian/nutritionist about diet and supplements to determine what you need nutritionally to support nerve health and healing? Have you had your blood tested for any vitamin deficiencies/toxicities contributing to your nerve pain from chemo toxicity?

Are you doing physical therapy to improve circulation and blood flow to limbs to increase oxygen and improve nerve healing? Have you had your iron and thyroid blood panels recently checked?

Been taking ALA since before surgery, radiation and chemo infusion and Keytruda. Pain Specialist recently doubled my morphine of 30mg per tablet, now am and pm. Not noticeable improvement. Usually supplement with Extra trenth Tylenol mid-day. Sometimes toss down IBU or 2. Twice a day Ducofenac to end half of feet. Helps some. Walking, standing not fun. Had mild stroke in March. No after effects fortunately. Visit physical therapist was one exam and bye. Did provide exercise regimen...

2 ReactionsMy doctors at Mayo said there are therapies involving electrodes on your body to help with nerve issues.
You might want to inquire about the therapies they offer.
Take care!
