Has anyone had success with regeneration medicine for neuropathy?

Posted by vbloomf @vbloomf, Nov 13 8:52am

I currently have neuropathy and Abundant Health has recommended I try the regeneration therapy and red light therapy for 90 days. I have scoliosis and rods and possibly a pinched nerve unable to walk without walker and nerve pain. This therapy is supposed to help gain new nerves and help improve numbness and reverse neuropathy.

Hello @vbloomf, Regeneration medicine for neuropathy does seem to offer a lot of hope for those of us with neuropathy but I'm still on the skeptical side and the cost is out of reach for most of us. While you wait for members who may have experience to respond, I did a search of Connect using two different phrases and thought you might find it helpful to scan though the search results:
-- "regenerative therapy" - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/
-- "regeneration medicine" - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/

I also found a couple of research articles on the topic that might provide more information:
-- Regenerative Therapy in Pain: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK578202/

Thank you so much I am half way there to try it but is $12,000 out-of-pocket for 90 days of treatment. I have no feeling in my feet and have more nerve pain so if it works well worth it!

Hello,

I hope you get better! I dont condone my situation as medical advice or cure of any kind but ive been taking EB-N6 for a couple years and I havent experienced much relief or noticable improvement. It's supposed to regrow nerves with its proprietary compound and takes some time. Meanwhile, I find that pain numbing foot creams, ice baths and stretching can help.

Everything my doctors have told me is that once a nerve is damaged or has died that's it, game over. Nerves can't be regenerated or healed. Sounds like BS to me.

@mrmacabre
A recent article in Scientific American talks about nerves regenerating. While long thought that nerves could not regenerate, research showing some nerves can regenerate, under very specific conditions. This will lead to further research to develop the scope of what is possible. Nerve regeneration research is in the very beginning stages. I found it most interesting. But it won't be applicable in our lifetimes.

@mrmacabre Thats what I was told. It will heal on its own or it won't heal at all. I think it's BS also. I think I'm going to try acupuncture. I've been trying everything else so I might as well give it a try.

$12,000 for 90 day treatment? I think I would get a second opinion from a another neurologist.

From what I have read, even if a nerve could somehow regenerate, it would only grow 1mm per day. That is if the nerve is not demylinated. A neurologist can perform tests to let you know the extent and type of nerve damage that you have.

In my humble opinion, Abundant Health is just another scam preying on people who are desperate for relief.

Ask yourself why a Chiropractor would know more than the entire medical profession.

@johnt54 I have done acupuncture and believe it helped but I am worse now and the doctor believes his treatment plan using infrared red light therapy and soft wave therapy and other things will help me walk again. I get no where with the medical doctors they only want to treat me with meds.
