@sallys: it depends, you have to see an endodontist, he/she will do an xray and evaluate the tooth, prepare yourself with questions for the dentist, learn online more about root canal procedure and gentle wave, many endodontists advertise with their expertise and explain,
in some cases a previously treated tooth can not be saved and an extraction needs to happen
