Newly Diagnosed

Posted by mlhunt1997 @mlhunt1997, 1 day ago

Newly diagnosed with bc with both lobular and ductal features and two positive lymph nodes, also triple negative. It seems like traditional course is months of chemo before surgery. See Mayo in a little over a week from now. Anyone with experience in this particular diagnosis?

I don't have this particular diagnosis but I am sure there will be others who can help you with more specifics. I just wanted to send you some hugs as you prepare to deal with all this.
I have stage 4 bc, ER+, HER2-negative with bone metastasis.

@coco46 Thank you and prayers for you in your treatment journey. I have felt very anxious receiving this diagnosis at 49 and completely out of the blue. Waiting for results was the most agonizing process. Felt much better once an appointment was set to determine treatment. However, not before I had gone down multiple rabbit holes on internet.

I am triple negative, more biopsies this week, I expect to get more targeted diagnosis and staging. I am in Michigan, i think i have good team, also hearing chemotherapy (4-6 months), then surgery, then radiation. Im most anxious about the chemotherapy. Looking for support and conversations with others going through treatment w triple negative.

@roxy66 That was what I was assuming based on the research I've done. I am also most nervous about chemotherapy and being able to keep up with work/businesses. I know that sounds ridiculous given the circumstances.

Been dealing with BC since Oct 1998, lots has happened since then including loss of records via Mayo. Strongly suggest keeping a journal of some sort regarding what's happening with you. You won't regret it.

I’ve been in treatment for er/pr positive with 6 positive nodes since May of last year. I went through 5 months of chemo with no major side effects. I was tired about day 3 with no appetite and a little lightheaded but those subsided around day 5. I know it’s not the same type of bc and most likely not the same chemo regime but I hope it gives you a little hope that it may not be as bad as you think. 🙏🏼

@mjmac Thank you! I will take any hope that it will be better than I'm imagining.
