I found joy this week cause after completing my 6 rounds of standard treatment for my metastatic liver lesioms ( for retroperitoneum lms) and on my third round of continuing chemotherapy ( Tribectedin) : I am in Italy working on my bucket list: Rome antiquities, Vatican, Pompeii , Amalfi coast, Florence and Venice.
I don't know what the future brings but for 16 glorious days: no doctors, therapies, scans, health issues!
At the mid point of trip and I have started contemplating the future. I want to focus on getting healthier cause the chemo kicked me to the curb. But on this trip I was able to do more steps than I thought possible. One day I did 15,000 steps. Before trip I struggled to do 4000 steps. I also want to eat healthier and to lose weight. I have not tried during chemo cause the docs really want you to eat... But now I think I can start a gentle effort to eat but at reduced calories and diabetic approved substances. And finally I want to get control of my ADHD behavior. Whew I have a lot of things I want to do! But I want to find joy in doing them. My standard for joy is doing things with others. This trip the joy was sharing my bucket list items with my spouse....and he loves to travel. I think that i will share my healthiness journey with friends/members at my church by holding a class for those of my age (74()at a weekly session . Simple things about strength for walking and how to get up after a fall. I plan to get my family involved in accountability for my ADHD. Right now I am getting joy in planning and sharing as I know this is healthy to do ( post chem)

And let's hope those lesions continue to shrink. Carpe diem !!!

You are doing great! Your plans for positive change are wonderful. I am impressed at how well you have addressed things that need to be improved on. Every day is a new day in which you can move forward and leave the pre-treatment person (habits/thoughts) behind.
Your trip sounds awesome, a great way to open the door to a new future!
Best of luck!
