What comes after Evenity?

Posted by laurensb @laurensb, Dec 1, 2023

I have been been on Fosamax for 6 years total starting in 2009 with various drug holidays during the years. I was on Raloxifene for 3 years. Started Evenity in June. What are people taking after the year of Evenity is up?

windyshores,
When do you have your Reclast infusion? Mine is scheduled for June. Anxious, of course.
I have bounced back and forth between endocrinologist and rheumatologist as each of them alienates me. 🙂
Both of them prescribed Evenity and then Reclast. They also know each other.
The good thing, I know, is that they are in agreement.
After the endocrinologist recently made me angry, I returned to the rheumatologist who was more engaged. This created an internal conflict in which I agonized over which doctor to stick with. Good grief. So, I think I will see both of them. The rheumatologist is going to administer the Reclast in his office.

How did you do on the Reclast?

Doing well, thanks for checking in. Had DEXA scan on 10.21.25, following one year of once weekly, delayed release risendronate. Spine went from -2.3 to -2.6; slight improvement in all other areas.
Have met twice with osteo MD since scan to discuss and weigh decision for next step. I plan to begin Prolia after the new year.
Wishing you well!

What did you decide after Evenity?

@grammy9 I am currently in my 13th month of Teriparatide (generic Forteo) I have not decided yet if I will follow up with Evenity. I have bone density in January to help me decide. I was on Forteo for 2 years in 2016.

I haven't had any issues with Evenity besides what to do next. I never did Forteo or Tymlos. I was on Fosamax for 9 years.

@grammy9 Have you had the results from Evenity yet? That awesome you had no side effects! Good to hear. The side effect and cost are a real concern for me as I already carry daily pain and happier to just keep working with Forteo. My sister had successfully been on Prolia for 10 years without difficulty and excellent results. I had a poor reaction with severe jaw issues after the first shot, so will not choose that option. Everyone is different and sometimes we just have to try it and see how we do.

I get a bone scan in February but I need to decide what I am doing next before that because he said I need to start something soon after. I felt achy after my 6th shot but besides that nothing but arm sore like a flu shot for a day on Evenity. I am sorry you had issues with it. That's why I am scared of Prolia because it can cause jaw rot I heard. What is your bone density? Mine is minus 3.0 on my spine but my hips are not horrible. I hope they are better with Evenity but I don't want to lose any gains!!!

My doctor is suggesting Prolia and I don't want to do it. What dose are you doing of Reclast?

I was on Prolia for 3 yrs with minimal side effects. I then had to switch to a better bone builder due to spine surgery. I took Tymlos for 4 months then switched to Evenity due to bad side effects. I just finished my last Evenity and next week I’m back on Prolia/Jubonty. I tolerated the Evenity pretty well. Hoping the next step will be manageable.

Was the tymlos sufficient to stop prolia rebound? If so, this is very exciting.
