TKR: Pain in buttocks & right foot numbness?

Posted by momof2sons @momof2sons, Oct 26 11:06am

Hi. July 28, 2025 I had a total right knee replacement. The pain in my knee is gone, but I’m having pain in my right buttocks and my right foot always feels like it’s asleep. That feeling gets worse at night. Any advice would help. Thank you.

Hello @momof2sons,

I'd like to invite @mav19, @robinleslie and @jeffybird who have all talked about foot numbness/pain following their total knee replacement. I am also inviting @drmom who talked about different pains after their TKR including buttocks pain.

@momof2sons, if you are comfortable sharing, how is your PT and rehab going with your knee? How is your flexion and extension? Have you had a chance to discuss your other pains with your surgeon or provider?

I had my knee replaced in 2006. I can remember following my own surgery that my gait changed slightly and some of the pain I experienced in different areas of my leg/hip area was due to compensating in different ways and changing how I walked some.

Hi. I have discussed my pain in my buttocks and the numbness in my foot with my doctor. He wants to do an MRI. I’ve been doing great with PT. I have noticed my walk is different. It feels like my right leg is a bit shorter than my left leg LOL. Thank you for replying to me.
