@pjulien63 Phyllis, if you needed someone to take you to appointments within Mayo, the Concierge might be able to arrange for a volunteer to help. You’d have to be able to get there first. Where would you travel from if you could go to Mayo? There also may be lodging options other than hotels. If you call the Concierge you can inquire. Insurance is probably the biggest issue because spine surgery is very expensive and I can’t even guess what a scoliosis surgery would be. You can also call your health insurance and ask if they cover Mayo. I’m glad your local doctor wants to help and I hope you can figure something out. This a lot to have to go through alone and if you do have surgery, it would be a long recovery. You may want to look at some of the conversations in the Spine Group about scoliosis surgeries.
Thanks for your kind words. I am doing fine and have not have any more issues since my spine surgery, and it was such a good thing in my life, I wanted to help other patients as best I can.
