I'm having brain fog caused by taking 50mg of Lyrica in the morning. I feel like a zombie until about 4 in the afternoon as it seems to wear off about that time. I take 75mg at bedtime and still feel drowsy in the mornings and then have to take the 50mg in the morning. I hate this drug and all of its side effects mainly constipation, nausea, being shaky, and feeling like a zombie. It is not taking care of all of my nerve pain and the side effects are worse than the drug. I would like to wean off this drug but I am 83 years old and I don't know if I can handle going through withdrawal. I also take blood pressure meds three times a day and I'm afraid withdrawal would affect my Blood Pressure. Is there anyone out there my age who has weaned off it? If so would you reply and let me know how you did while going through it.

@note8book I don't know how long you have been on it. I took gabapentin for neuropathy. 300mg twice a day. At first it helped the neuropathy but the brain confusion was concerning. After a short time it felt like it did more harm than good to muscles and bones. Didn't help pain much either. I think the longest I took it everyday was 4 months. I quit cold turkey and had very little side effects and what I did have cleared up in a week or so. I am 68. You could just taper. Lower dose until you feel you can quit altogether. I completely understand the fear.

I am 75 yrs old and was on 200mg/day for 9 months. I started to wean down under my psychiatrist in February 2025. We are now in November. I reduced 25mg every 4 weeks. When I got to 50mg I started to reduce by about 15% every couple of weeks or so. I am now at 17mg. My psych prescribed liquid Pregabalin 200mg/20ml. I ask Chat Gpt to do the conversion. I use a 1ml syringe to measure it out. It is trial and error how much I drop - but I am trying to stick to the 15% drop every 10-15 days. At this rate I won’t be finished till April 2026 but I may be able to finish earlier depending how I feel (intend to stop at 1mg or 2mg Pregabalin). It hasn’t been great throughout and some uncomfortable days but I try to keep busy and it passes. If it gets really uncomfortable I will take a Valium but am feeling so much better at these lower doses I have only taken one or two lately. I have high blood pressure too (I take medication for it) but it doesn’t seem to have affected it. I know a lot of people decrease quicker and some with no symptoms but I think as we get older our minds get weaker and we are sensitive. The way I am doing it is long and slow but it’s meant to be the safest way and at least I can carry on with my life even if am not always feeling A1. You should do this under a good GP or a psychiatrist as it’s important to have some support. This is how I am doing it anyway. I felt like you with the brain fog, tiredness and generally felt yuk! I will be relieved to be off it! Good luck!
