@swinger690 I have had several endoscopies over the years and have not experienced this. Have you spoken to your doctor about it?

I have had over 3 endoscopies and never had these symptoms. Talk to your doctor about this to see if they had any difficulties accessing your mouth/esophagus with the equipment and if there is anything used that you may be allergic to? They may suggest taking an antihistamine or steroid if it is bad and they are concerned about your throat closing up. Call the weekend on call gastrointestinal doctor today.

Never! I have had several endoscopies and only a slightly sore throat afterwards.

@swinger690 … a thought just occurred to me … I wonder if the mouth guard used for you was not sterilized properly …!? 🤔

I would wonder if the mouthguard was properly sterilized as someone else has mentioned. You may be allergic to the hard plastic. My sister-in-law had a tooth on a denture plate broken some years ago.I do not know why she was not asked to remove them as they always ask me to remove my dentures when having an endoscopy but some hospitals may vary. On the other hand it may have happened when the gastroenterologist was removing the tube after the procedure as a year ago I woke up just as he was removing the tube and he seemed he seemed to be taking it out fairly fast!
