@tamb At my clinc the surgeons team sees you at 3mo., 6mo. and 12mo. As for PT I am going every 2 weeks. I often wonder the same thing about full recovery. I read that full recovery tends to be 85 to 100 percent usage same as before. But there are factors that can change the outcome. I think however active you were before you should be able to do again.
I also have arthritis in my same bad leg being in the brace didn't help and some of the exercises with the bands hurt alot. I just got a cortisone injection. what kind of injection did you get that lasted a year. that is amazing. they say I can get cortisone every 3 months.
I wanted to get symvisc injection but because of insurance I have to start with the cortisone again.
it seems like as time goes on the swelling will subside. my whole leg was swollen for a long time. it seems to be starting to not be as bad this week. which is a great relief.
Wishing you a great rest of the week.

@seesa2u
That makes me feel better to know that a final appointment at 12 weeks might be an unrealistic expectation. Possibly a communication error, but I now know that if I am not fully recovered, I should request additional follow ups. Thanks
I received hyaluronic (Synvisc I think) in 2019 in both of my knees. I had a lot of inflammation and swelling in my knees, the injections really helped, and seemed to keep the swelling and inflammation under control. At that time I was hiking several miles per day.
Although I have not been as active or hiking as much in the last couple of years, I have not had the knee problems that I had back then. So I feel that the combination of hyaluronic injections, and some additional PT exercise proved successful for me. I lived in Alaska at the time, and I was considering knee surgery. I decided to seek a second opinion with Mayo Clinic, and decided to take a more conservative route. That was 6 years ago.
Since the hamstring surgery, and beginning PT activity, I am having a reoccurrence of my old knee pain. I am hoping they will let me try another hyaluronic injection--at least in my good legs knee.
I am hoping to know in the next couple of weeks. My current PT has recommended that I give hyaluronic injections a try again, based on my success with the injections 6 years ago.
Currently, I am trying to find the correct balance of doing PT exercise, but not doing so much that it causes my leg to swell so much. I am glad to hear your swelling is beginning to subside. Hope we all have a good week!
