I have both. I’ve had 5 surgeries to hip and si joint fusion. I finally found Dr. Matthew Mai who is in Florida. He is an expert with this. I wish I would have found him sooner as I think he could have fixed everything in one surgery. Now I’m really damaged goods with a hip replacement that really needs completely removed and redone (too risky) to really fix the issue. He did a surgery in Sept 2025 on me to shave off my lesser trochanter (as an alternative to hip replacement revision) which should give relief to the IFI pinching. I’m 5 weeks post op and still have a lot of old symptoms though. You can do a phone consult with him without traveling. I’m in Texas. At least he is an expert in the condition and can really speak to it. I have both on my non operated other hip so when it really starts bothering me, I’ll go straight to him.
