Post opp healing for me was very slow. It took 3 months to figure out why I wasn’t healing but the surgeon finally figured out that a crust had formed in my valve opening due to bladder stone crystals that I was passing after surgery. He suggested that I take an alkalizer to dissolve the crust. After a week or so the crust broke free, I had very bloody urine for a day, the next day I had a lot of flakes in my urine, then the healing finally began. It took 6 more weeks to get to the point to where I didn’t have to wear pads anymore to soak up the leakage.
I had bladder stones because I was unable to fully empty bladder for such a long time before the surgery. I suggest to anyone that has bladder stones to try to get rid of those stones before the surgery. Also start doing Kegle exercises prior and after surgery to help strengthen the valve muscles. The muscles become weak due to your enlarged prostate constricting the flow and not having to work very hard to stop the flow.
Good luck with your surgery!
