Medical cannabis vs Ambien?
I am 75 years old - using 5 mg of Ambien (successfully) at night to help me sleep for six hours. I have chronic neuropathy pain in my feet , ankles and calves. I have been using for about 12 years and it lets me sleep through pain for 5-6 hours. I am tired all the next day. Cramping pain in my legs and feet usually wake me up or assuming the 5 mg of Ambien are leaving my system. I used to wake up refreshed and able to take on chronic pain for the day, however now I am so tired the next day. I would like to wean off Ambien and try pill or edible cannabis hoping this would work equally or better and give me more energy next morning. Thoughts? Any insights? Thanks!

I took Ambien for only about 4 weeks, it has such a horrible name associated with it. My doctor said the positives of Ambien outway anything negative. However I am currently doing CBD/CBN/THC gummies and they are working well. I do not have a medical card and I just purchase it on-line.

2 ReactionsEvery one of us cares and understands. I take 15mgof mirtazapine and a sleep gummie every night before bed. The dogs wake me up at 4:30 a.m. maybe they need sleep gummies too. I also take a Calm-x pill if I get to wound up during the day.

How do I determine what type of gummie and size? Just trial & error?
Try the FOCL brand … they are like 25 mg cbd
15 mg cbn
2.5 thc
I would start with that …
I have done medical gummies for 10 years to sleep,
due to my neuropathy. It works!
As you know this is a chronic pain that worsens at night. After 8 miserable weeks on Gabapentin this summer I stopped cold. I had found research and studies with positive pain reduction using R- Alpha Lipoic Acid with B1 and began taking a therapeutic dose- 2400mg. Total per day.
By one week I was having a remarkable reduction in pain.
It actually helps repair the myelin sheath so nerves are cushioned.
If you have a traumatic reason or diabetes causing neuropathy it may work. I am beyond happy for less pain!

2 Reactions@patriciaschulz1950 After 10 years of using a THC/Cbd/+ gummy for pain and sleep I find 20-30mg. of Indica…think in da couch- it helps best - for me more is overkill.
@jillb329 what is calm X? Can u look at the active ingredients, should be on the side of the bottle. I looked on Amazon and found an item called calm, which was magnesium, wondering if calm X is different
@patriciaschulz1950 I suggest speaking with an expert at the dispensary. There are so many strains now, it seems to me impossible to stay current. Also mention that it is important to avoid dizziness (to avoid falls)

1 ReactionWow. I responded to a previous email of yours or comment and this one hits home as well I too take ambient 10kg not 5 for the past 15 years. And while in the hospital several times for afib being converted hip replacement I'm sorry hip fracture. Always willing to give it to me. But I wake up at 2:00 almost every morning and go to the fridge and don't remember the eating but know I did it. I would like more information about the cannabis gummy vaping don't smoke don't drink. Drinking was one of my issues a few years back haven't had alcohol in a few years Carry it and I'm the one that's on Cymbalta trying to get off that as well. I did recently get off my statin rovastatin. I have an implant since 2010. Apparently my cardiologist says I probably don't need it but it's not hurting anything being in there. I do have a fib since 2007 hence the implant. But based on win Hof breathing method for about a year now every morning and taking mineralized Baja Sea salt every morning. Along with exercising when I get up first thing just in bed after breathing I paddle 100 times like a bike laying in bed and I stretch both legs three sets of 30 and then I stretch my back because I have severe stenosis L4 L5 which I can walk three miles a day not a problem but once I sit for a while it settles in the lower back. Sorry to be so long drawn. I have left this kind of message before but you sound exactly like what's going on in my body. I'm 68 year old male. The neuropathy does bother me but have reversed it to where balls of my feet and my toes bother me no longer my calves. And I think I've reversed it with cutting out with cutting out sugar and alcohol.
Good luck to everybody and hopefully I get a response From Marci

Hyland's CalmX is a mild otc pill for restlessness and sleeplessness. It's very mild, but it calms me down when life gets hectic and anxious. I've been using it for years.
