Could anyone let me know if they have been successful with Fosamax. That mainly means, no esophageal problems.
The new medications, like ATELVIA, which I am considering, have not proven themselves but Fosamax seems to have had a long successful existence. Since Atelvia affects the small intestine , because that is where it is absorbed I am afraid it may damage it just as some bisphosphonates affect the esophagus.
Please help. I have to decide which med to take. Thank you kindly.

I have been on the brand product Atelvia for more than ten years. My specialist, now retired, would have me stay on it as I am "stable" on it. I have had no fractures. The generic version (and my specialist warned me of this) really bothered my gut (a big ouch), So I stick with the expensive brand product. I am now considering whether to change to another drug entirely.

Note that I have the worst gut ever, extremely sensitive IBS-C, cannot take many supplements and am limited to a simple diet of maybe 20 foods (that I string together for decent, but repetitive meals). It is a miracle the brand product Atelvia is well tolerated and befuddling that the generic is not tolerated at all. Maybe one needs to drink a lot of water with the generic.
