Does anyone have chondrosarcoma?

I visited Mayo in Rochester in 2021 for a work up, and during a lower body mri the radiologist incidentally found something: an atypical cartilaginous tumor measuring 9+ cm in my left distal femur. It had deep endosteal scalloping. An xray at Mayo during same visit noted the same. Did not get to meet with Dr. Rose before leaving, so I followed up with an Ortho. Onc. in Indiana. He declared it an enchondroma and watched it for three years. Never did a biopsy or considered the achiness and numbness I was experiencing. He was also dismissive of my anxiety. Coming back to Mayo 11/18/25 for 2nd op. with Dr. Rose. I’m frightened it may be cancer and I’ll need surgery. Anyone else face this? Tips to calm the anxiety?

@scoobysnackn, I wanted to follow up on your post. How did the testing at Mayo last year go? What did you learn? How are you doing now?

From a quick search, it seems that endochondroma rarely turns into actual bone cancer. I'd relax and stick with positive thoughts. Your local doc had the right idea, was probably trying to help you relax, rather than coming across as dismissive. I empathise with you if he didn't make that clear.
