Plantar fasciitis
I have tried everything to deal with chronic heel pain. When I say everything, please think of every modality! And every shoe, splint, cream. Podiatrist insist it is plantar fasciitis and MRI was taken. I feel it may be something else. I have had pf years ago and it never felt like this. Anyone have any suggestions?

Peripheral Neuropathy can make your heels hurt too. Also, heel spurs can cause heel pain.
I have arthritis in the top and bottom of my feet and my heels hurt with that. It is a different pain than the Plantars Fasciitis.
I am curious as to what the Podiatrist think's it might be? Have you seen an Orthopedic Podiatrist or Orthopedic Doctor?
Thoughts: Do not go barefooted, Soak feet in Epsom salt, Wear good supportive shoes, Voltaren Gel up to 4 times a day on your feet with socks & roll a frozen bottle on the bottom of your foot & heels, no flip flops as this puts pressure on your heels when you walk. Also, low B12 can cause foot pain and other pain that mimics peripheral neuropathy (parasthesia)....have you had that checked?
I so empathize with painful feet and praying for you. Blessings....
Find a great DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) first time I had it so bad they used electrode therapy with ice took 50% of pain away then ultrasound treatments took the rest of pain away. Got it again years later because I started to get lax in shoe choices. Back to therapy where they manually tore tissue on bottom of foot. It was very painful procedure but after a number of treatments went away again. Not sure if you have tried pt
I’m gonna assume you’ve worn a boot? I wore a boot for months. It worked. The pain didn’t go away immediately after I finally finished wearing the awful boot. The pain eventually went away completely. My podiatrist also told me what orthotics to wear and gave me a list of brands of shoes. To this day(years later) I still wear the orthotics, HOKA’s and Birkenstocks. I don’t wear anything with a heel over 1/2 inch or so. I’ve not had PF again. I also soaked with epsom salts. Some people use the massage roller things, but it never helped.
1) Get orthotics made.
2) You MUST have your thyroid checked.
3) Get off all wheat items for a couple of weeks.
@dmk
Manually tore the tissue? How?
Going back to PT. Hoping they have the electrode therapy with ice or ultrasound therapy. The previous PT only did stretching exercises 🙄

Podiatrist stated the MRI showed acute plantar fasciitis. But like I said, this time it feels completely different. The heel pain never stops. I have tried everything you mentioned. Going back to podiatrist and to PT.
Maybe need a referral. I live in a small town.
Thanks 😘
my doctor (podiatrist) gave me stretches .....pulling with towel, rolling over bottle/can, and standing with hands on wall and foot to back to stretch back of leg.....also wear a shoe with 1 inch heel, never anything flat
My first podiatrist I went to with PF wanted to inject my feet with steroids multiple times for pain relief.
I didn't go for that.
The second podiatrist I saw recommended daily stretches at least 4x per day. Pulling with a towel and standing on steps with my feet half on and half off, holding on to a rail and raising myself up and down.
I did these 2 exercises exactly as recommended every single day. Even in work.
Believe it or not I had PF for 18 months. And eventually it resolved with my exercising daily x4 or x5 a day.
I was about 40 years old at the time. I am now 70 and never had PF again.
I also personally believed weight gain played a part in developing PF. This tough lining of the bottom of the feet develop very small "tears" which causes such pain. Lots of reasons as to the why. And, no surprise, one of which is no definite cause/answer at all. Try the stretches as I described but must be done as described.
Good luck! PF is no joke!
@desi27 they used deep tissue massage to tear up the fibers
