Heart Disease + Neuropathy + AFIB

Circulatory conditions that require blood thinners when a patient also has neuropathy should require to offer “The Watchman” mesh patch surgery option or similar options. I had a pacemaker and was taking blood thinners with advanced neuropathy. I had zero feeling in my foot ankle and all. If you are using blood thinners when you have no feeling in your feet it is a bit scary. Walking barefoot is not an option. However, walking barefoot is my way of sensing the floor/ground better to help with balance issues when walking with neuropathy. Therefore, I had many issues of scaring my wife to death when she thought she witnessed a knife fight crime scene in the kitchen or on the patio. I would leave behind my blood after slamming my big toe into an immovable object. I get rushed and never check since it didn’t hurt. I never even look down until my wife screams 5 minutes later.
The Watchman procedure for AFIB did not exist at that time but was suggested by my heart surgeon when it became available on Medicare. In my case it has been a major improvement. I was able to quit blood thinners immediately even though the left atrial appendage that was treated is shaped like a complex cave system from a video game. It certainly seems like a breeding ground for strokes.

You said you had major improvement after having Watchman implanted. Can you describe your improvements? Thanks.

The improvements were due to no longer requiring blood thinning medication for Atrial Fibrillation or heart disease. Even though PN requires the most attention from a pain perspective; heart issues or strokes will kill me first and fastest.

I have to take better care of my heart because that is more silent and more deadly. They do say the squeaky wheel gets the grease and nothing squeaks louder than PN pain.
