Hi,
I have been an asthmatic since I was 4 years old (now 62 years old). Thankfully, there are many treatments available and the guidelines are always being updated. Not good that he passed out at work, and lucky someone intervened to help him. Now will be the time for them to find out what caused this severe reaction. Once he gets over this hurdle, the provider will find the best combination to help him go through this. He may need allergy testing so he knows what to avoid. It can be very scary - especially when first diagnosed. There are times when asthma is very stable, and time when there are exacerbations. Having a good provider, whom he can trust, is essential. Good luck to both of you.

@jenniferguajardo - scary about your son passing out at work. Yes, luckily someone saw him and helped him.
That would be a really good question to ask his doctor as far as what to expect for the future of your son's asthma, as he or she would have a good idea of exactly where your son is at as far as severity of his asthma right now.
Do you know if your son got to ask the doctor about this? If not, do you think he'd get a message to the doctor inquiring about this?
