Nerve damage from cortisone shot
Had a cortisone shot in my back July 21st. The pain that was intense in my calf area darted from the calf to my thigh upon the administering of the shot. I had trouble getting off the table. The intense pain returned to the calf shortly after. The pain became worse after this shot. Then I had an MRI done September 5 to see if I could get the cortisone with epidural done. Got this shot September 10th. The pain is still intense and was told by the dr it's nerve damage which will not be repaired anytime soon. I now have pain killers, creams and sleeping pills with a sedative. Any suggestions to help with this problem?

The nerve damage isn't going to get any better, because it's permanent.

1 ReactionIt is unfortunate that your cortisone caused nerve damage. Did the same doctor administer the shot who says now it's nerve damage? You could see a neurologist or pain specialist.

No , different one. My GP is sending me to someone on December 5th who apparently deals with this.
I have pudendal nerve pain. At least that’s what doctors at Mayo all think it is. Very, very difficult to live with. I had 2 cortissone shots about 5 years ago, but that caused even more pain. Now just Gabapentin and PT , which does not help that much. Used to take Lyrica, but can’t tolerate it any longer. Can’t even wear pants. Sit on a donut pillow, but constant pain. Walking and PT helps calming it dow. Just can’t sit or lay down comfortably. Life is a nightmare and no solutions offered by Mayo. They tried.

1 Reaction@hennykatz Find a pain management office, they can do an ablation of the pudendal nerve, if that doesn’t work ask them for a nerve stimulator implant.
An wondering if I have pudendal nerve damage. I had a lamenectomy in June that left my L5 area damaged. About 2 months ago I started having pain in my tailbone area on top of all the back pain, leg and foot neuropathy. Now I am finding it impossible to sit for any length of time, especially by the end of the day. The surgeon has referred me to pain management, I hope I can get some help there.
Wow!! I thought I was alone on this. Post-Covid I was already weakened, as admittedly I was a British Murder/detective tv series addict! Losing strength and weakened mobility to start. I got a back steroid injection in a spot I’d never had before. 2014 I had a L3-4-5 fusion, and the rest of my spine kept losing space between vertebrae. It was explained I’d get a cartical injection around my tail bone.
It was weirder than any other I’d received previously. As the steroid was pushed in, it felt like my right buttocks “inflate.” I told the team it felt different than any other spinal injection I’ve had. I had a tough time getting up and walking.
A day later, it was much worse. I was walking like Quasimodo. I started with a cane. Now, after a few rounds of PT, it’s still not back to where I was before that injection.
I found another doctor and continue treatment and physical therapy. I wonder if those nerves will ever heal.
