I finally saw an Endocrinologist in Boston yesterday after waiting a year. I am sorry to say that I felt very disappointed with this appointment. I was asked to pick a drug to start with before my labs came back. I also wanted to discuss HRT options, and she said she would not order them (not proven to help?) I would have to go to an OB/GYN to discuss this. I have Osteoporosis and I have been working very hard with supplements and the gym with no improvement for a few years. My question is, has anyone had these issues with an Endocrinologist before. It was frustrating to say the least.

I had one endocrinologist tell me if I had two Reclast shots, that would be all the meds I would need forever. (I don't believe this is true.). When I said I was fearful of the side effects I've read about that drug, the Dr got very angry with me. He said I would probably fracture within the next year by something as simple as picking up a laundry basket. I am 75 and although I have severe osteoporosis, I have never fractures and have decided to be drug free for now. I can't take Foreto or Tymlos due to parathyroid issues, leaving only Evenity and a bisphosphonate (Reclast or Fosamax). Evenity is too new for me and I've read bisphosphonates don't reduce fractures very much. My new Endo Dr wants me to take Fosamax but respects my opinion to decline.

Yes. I was unable to get help with bhrt from my endocrinologist or a gynecologist. I finally went to a functional medicine provider.
