microscopic (lymphocytic) colitis

What is the best strategy for handling this rare(?) condition? I have been diagnosed with this and have been given very little information as to how to manage the symptoms. Are flare ups usual? Can symptoms be controlled with medications? My biggest complaint is pain and have been investigated for pelvic floor pain, urologic type pain and MSK pain all to no avail. I think it is the colitis that is the cause of my unrelenting pain. Your thoughts? Suggestions?

A correction to my post about having my gallbladder out and the B12 shots having nickel.. they B12 shots (all but one kind have COLBALT in them) They left some metal suchers (?? clips??) in me when they took my gallbladder out..they could be made of cobalt.. .or some kind of metal.. I am very sensitive to metal and have been sick since I got my gallbladder out..google says it's normal to have them left in or out (conflici ng)..they need to be watched in case they move and create a problem..IDK.. I wish my dr had told me..I found these on a CT scan (after having had about 12 CTs..and they finally showed up..) So..I don't want to misinform anyone..thisis just what happened to me. (I did the prop and listed my allergies and said I was allergic to lidocaine and had a sticker on my gown saying so.. and 2 anetheologists (sp?)said "we won't be giving you lidocaine" BUT when I was on the surgery table I heard the nurse say "add the lidocaine".. I fought so hard she yelled" you guys get over here I can't hold this little lady down and they smashed that mask on my face so hard..theyn they told my sister in law. we're having trouble waking her up..so I talked to the hospital.. and they assured me they had a "new policy in effect".. no one gets stuff they are allergic to. 3 years later and I can hardly tolerate anything to eat. it's been a mess...God help us all!!

Hello and thank you for the message. Not sure if I was the correct recipient, as your greeting said [mailto:Hi@jlmp] . I have not been in touch for quite some time and was surprised, although pleasantly so, to hear from you.
I recently had a colonoscopy with removal of a benign polyp . As my microscopic colitis is now at the point of needing a biologic to control symptoms, not sure if this is the right choice for me given my history of lymphoma. I have an appt. at the end of this month to discuss with my G.I. specialist.

@anniegk I had my gallbladder removed at age 71. At age 73 was diagnosed with EPI. At age 75 was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Before gallbladder removal I had a stomach that could handle anything.

Good morning.
I had my gallbladder out and then developed EPI and took Creon for years. Then they found a gallstone in my bile duct. After a month I quit the creon.
Have them do an ultrasound to make sure you don't have a stone stuck in the bile duct.
I got the microscopic colitis after my gallbladder also. I had been good for 3 years and now back in trouble. Just took 6 weeks of Budnesoide but did not help as much as in the past.
Watching your fat intake definitely helps but not completely. Also taking Pepto Bismol does settle the area.

Have they done an ultrasound on the area? If not I would ask for that. I had a gallstone stuck in my bile duct and removing that helped.
Also hav you had your gallbladder removed? Just asking as that is when my microscopic colitis started.
Also watch your fat intake. That is a big issue.
I take Pepto Bismol daily up to 3 a day when having flare ups.
Budnesoide does help but not a long term solution
