I took barbering because I have arthritis in my hands knees and back and I had a lot of steroids which brought my HGA1C up a little from 4.7-5.5 so yes it helped but it tore up my stomach like severe heartburn. I never took antacids but I had to for a month and also I eat no spicy food, no pepper,no tomatoe sauce. I guess I’m sensitive. I also take a small dose of Celebrex and started taking that with Kifer. I switched to a Tumeric which is the one that is hydro- soluble technology. I do think if you do not normally run high blood sugars it will work to keep your Blood sugar from rising but if your Blood sugar is normally high I wouldn’t take it. I suggest modifying your diet and daily exercise. Low carb no processed food. Keep on your blood sugar med and just have frequent Blood sugar checks and decrease your blood sugar meds slowly as you see your Blood sugar dropping. You may be able to stop your prescription blood sugar med. By Just loosing a few pounds will decrease your blood sugar. Some people have ruined their pancreas for different reasons so berberine will not work for that and if your a type 1 either.
