What does medicare provide after hip replacement surgery?
I have Medicare and am hoping (?) to go for a hip replacement FINALLY after waiting probably too long since I am now in extreme pain while walking. So it's almost like mandatory for me, hoping for the best, naturally. But I wonder -- my husband is handicapped, he can take care of himself although I'm always scared about him falling, and I wonder what Medicare provides for the recovery portion? Thanks for any help. I will see the doctor this week and I guess I can ask him, but was thinking someone here might help me with an answer.

That is utterly amazing that at 90 your Mom made it through successfully at her age. She must have great genes that I hoped she passed onto you too.
Finding the best surgeon can really make recovery easier. I am 80. About three years ago I had my left hip replaced and I had zero post surgery pain. I had an RX for oxycodone and didn't take any.
13 days ago I had my right knee replaced by the same surgeon. The only pain I have had is some when I first stand up after sitting or lying down for a while. After walking about twenty feet it mostly abates. Again, I had an RX for oxycodone and didn't take any.
There is no guarantee but finding the best and experienced surgeon can make a huge difference.
