Precancerous polyp then eventually getting cancer
Did anyone have a precancerous polyp than cancer down the road? I am 45. I had a colonoscopy a few weeks ago and a polyp was removed. Pathology says it's precancerous. Dr says since he removed it I just need to have another colonoscopy in 3 years. I was diagnosed with breaat cancer last year, stage 1, and I have read that when people get a form of cancer they are susceptible to get a recurrence of the same cancer or a different cancer, so I would think this would be concerning to the dr and they would do more than just wait 3 years. So I'm curious if anyone had a precancerous polyp than eventually got cancer down there.

@roywalton Indeed. A Google search indicates that breast cancer, if it metastasises, can come back as colon cancer but it’s rare.
As someone with rare appendix cancer I would be getting a second opinion for peace of mind 👍
My appendix cancer by comparison is already stage 4 (in remission) and my colonoscopy is yearly, shortly to move to 2 yearly
@stanberryd251 My father for many years now has has an annual colonoscopy and precancerous polyps removed. It’s part of his normal life 🤷♀️
@isadora2021

1 ReactionBe happy that you have good doctors that are on it. I went thru the mill with a very bad doctor, who I did not realize she was terrible in her work plus her best side manner was also poor. By the time I left her went to a medical teaching facility Which gave me the option of a 5-6 hour surgeon or go die. I did a 3rd option from Mayos By that time the poly went to cancer No surgery which they wondered why surgery when it was treated with chemo & radiation over a 2 year program and I am free of cancer SO be glad you have great doctors as I went thru the time of bad doctors
