I find it odd that no doctors these days prescribe Elavil (amitriptyline). It's a mood leveler and not an upper so it's not "fun". But no ups and downs is good. I took a heavy dose of three times daily of 25mg each after a nervous breakdown for depression. Stopped cold turkey after 8 years.
Went back on for a sleeping aid when I got chronic fatigue syndrome. 25mg at bedtime. It's a wonderful pill for many symptoms and it takes a prescription but only around $8 a month at full price. I have insurance and I pay $0.37 co-pay.
By the way I tried four different pills for depression when they first came on market. Prozac was one, can't remember other three. But all of them made me super hyper and I could not stand them.

@luckbme hi there, I also use Amitriptyline aka Elavil but not in Canada, I was given them about 10 years ago, they were given for pain relief so I started on 5 mg. x 2 and eventually 20 mg., thankfully they are helpful during some terrible painful times and they also offer some help with anxiety and depression but it’s a low dose… in all I’m very grateful that they have them, amen.
