Good information; osteoporosis treatment to me is very vague; certain drugs for certain people; some drugs work, and as powerful as they are some do nothing. I feel that it is a giant package that needs to be customized to each of us who need treatment; exercise, weight training, supplements, diet, pharmaceuticals. I don't believe any one doctor looks at the whole picture. The people who treat osteo treat a lot of other conditions; they don't have time to be an osteoporosis specific practice unfortunately. My doc didn't suggest any PT; did that on my own. Good to hear that your PT (medically trained professional) is excited about this. Exercise wise I asked my PT about weighted vests; she said she was conflicted about it but if I were to start to keep the weight low, like 6 pounds. This group is great to point out studies and research being currently done; I can't get this information from the doctor's office!

@jozer Agreed. It’s like the proverbial needle in a haystack, digging and digging to find the answers and the right fit. I’ve read conflicting information about the weighted vests as well.

@jozer I had a brief free meeting with a physical therapist through the YMCA who said to wear a 5 lb. vest one hour/day and jump 20 times. I am also doing strength training. However, I overdid and, after planting pansies and doing all of the above plus some, I came down in the back with neck soreness too. I've never had that happen and it alarmed me. I've now asked to meet with a p.t. who specializes in osteoporosis. I agree that treatment from docs is vague as for what we can and cannot do.
