Hi,

My husbands PSA is now up to 170...It jumped 50% last month. they are going to do radiation on one spot...
Anyone had radiation? What can we expect? We are so scared. I thought they were going to do Chemo, but then decided to hold off and do radiation instead. He is Stage 4 metasasized to bones and lymph node diagnosed in 2023..Taking apalutamide and eligard shot ...

Radiation can cause a number of issues, For many people it isn’t that much of a problem. There might be some urinary problems, and maybe diarrhea, But they aren’t guaranteed.

Is he having a spacer put in to protect the rectum? There are three different spacers available right now SpaceOAR, Barrigel, or BioProtect. They can make the radiation less risky.

I would imagine they are going to do IMRT radiation not SBRT radiation. You don’t mention it, but if there are multiple spots to hit IMRT can do it. How many radiation sessions is he going to have? If you can give more information about the type of radiation, he’s going to have we can give some more information about how it will affect him.
