I had a consultation at Mayo with an endocrinologist in Sept. she was generous with time given and reviewed most recent studies. She did say the only option for me would be to go from Prolia to Reclast. Reclast isn’t perfect either, including risk of osteocronosis. It would require more followup testing, office visits. I live 150 miles from the clinic. The decision was up to me. I have had excellent results reversing bone loss with Prolia so I decided to stay with it. I started it at age 77, will soon be 79. She said there is a new research paper being published later this year on osteoporosis treatment. Perhaps something else will be available in the next couple of years. I’ve had a couple of acquaintances my age who were fearful of any osteoporosis treatments. Their lives have been upturned with other illnesses. I just received my 5th Prolia injection. Ive had lung surgery, had a stroke, manage Afib, and keep bouncing back. Will continue to watch my diet, good dental care, and take a couple of cruises. I appreciate your reply, thank you.
