My TKR is scheduled in 2 months (December). I am thankful to hear from people who had good outcomes. So much talk about how difficult this surgery is to recover from. I am doing strengthening exercises for my legs so hopefully I will be pain free and have a positive recovery too.

Some of it is luck -- both good and bad. Some if it is the result of superb surgery and some the result of crappy surgery.

There are a couple of things that can help. Hopefully your surgeon uses a midvastus or subvastus method. Use of either of those two methods will dramatically improve early recovery. Ask your surgeon if he uses a tourniquet. if he says yes, ask him if he can do without it using tranexamic acid instead. The scientific literature is now quite clear that routine use of a tourniquet is not helpful.

You can still have bad luck but these two things will help your chances of getting on the good side of the surgical bell curve.
